Counselling Conversations for Parents and People caring for Children
We welcome parents and anyone who is caring for children. So we welcome and work with parents, step parents, other relatives, foster carers, professional or other significant adults in children’s lives. Parents and People caring for children come for counselling conversations because they:
- Feel like they are dealing with a crisis.
- Are looking to encourage co-operation and understanding within their family.
- Have difficulty understanding a child or young person.
- Are unsure how to cope with unwanted/destructive/harmful/aggressive behaviour.
- Find themselves saying things to children that they never meant to say.
- Are feeling desperate, exasperated and exhausted.
- Want to do things differently but are not sure where to start.
How We Work
We like to work flexibly with people who care for children. We offer an initial free half hour meeting to establish whether Counselling Conversations are right for you and the child. We will also look at whether there are other people involved with caring for the child that you would like to include in the conversation. Usually we would agree an initial number of sessions, between four and six with further work arranged together as needed. To find out more please contact Jenny Newland.
